About Aiven projects

The Aiven MCP Server is a Model Context Protocol server that connects AI assistants (such as Claude, Cursor, and VS Code) directly to the Aiven cloud data platform, enabling natural language management of managed open-source data services. It allows AI agents to create, update, and delete services like PostgreSQL, Apache Kafka, ClickHouse, and OpenSearch, as well as execute SQL queries, manage Kafka topics, fetch metrics, and search Aiven documentation—all without leaving the conversation. The server supports both a hosted mode (via OAuth 2.0 with PKCE) and a self-hosted local mode, with configurable read-only and scoped-service modes for safe agentic workflows. Pricing for the MCP server itself is not separately charged; it is bundled with access to Aiven's platform, which offers a free tier and hourly-rated paid plans.
