Arago

Arago is an AI hardware company developing a photonic AI accelerator chip (codenamed JEF) that uses light instead of transistors to run AI workloads with 10x–30x lower energy consumption than conventional silicon accelerators. Its proprietary software stack, CARLOTA®, interfaces seamlessly with PyTorch, enabling developers to deploy and scale existing AI models without modifying their codebase. The chip's hybrid architecture combines a multi-physics AI compute core for high-volume tensor operations with a deterministic control unit for pointwise operations, targeting multi-PetaOp/s performance. Arago is pre-commercial, based in Paris and San Jose, and backed by Earlybird, C4 Ventures, Protagonist, and Visionaries Tomorrow.
