foehn

Foehn is an open-source tool designed to provide streamlined access to MeteoSwiss Open Data through a Python API, Command Line Interface (CLI), and an MCP (Model Context Protocol) server. It enables users (especially data scientists, researchers, and LLM developers) to download, convert, and analyze Swiss weather data as efficient tabular DataFrames/Parquet or gridded datasets (xarray/Zarr). Key functions include incremental downloads, data conversion, metadata exploration, and live LLM connectivity to weather data through the MCP server.
