About Mnemex

Mnemex (now CortexGraph) is a Model Context Protocol (MCP) server that gives AI assistants like Claude natural, human-like memory. It implements a temporal memory system where memories decay over time, mimicking human forgetting, but can be reinforced through repeated use and promoted to permanent storage when important. The system stores short-term memory in JSONL and long-term memory in Markdown (Obsidian-compatible), supports local storage for data privacy, and exposes advanced tools such as knowledge graphs, smart prompting, and memory export functions. It is particularly useful for AI researchers, cognitive science enthusiasts, and developers building context-aware or persistent-memory AI systems, and integrates with MCP-compatible clients and the Obsidian knowledge management platform.
