Smithsonian MCP is a Model Context Protocol (MCP) server that connects AI assistants and tools to the Smithsonian Institution’s Open Access collections. It enables automated search, exploration, and analysis of over 3 million digitized objects—covering art, history, science, and culture—from across 24 Smithsonian museums. The MCP server is designed for both developers and AI platforms, offering seamless integration with tools like Claude Desktop, rich metadata, collection analytics, exhibition planning data, and accurate, statistically sampled collection metrics.
