About YouTube MCP

YouTube MCP is a Model Context Protocol server that enables AI assistants to interact with YouTube's public data. It exposes tools for searching videos, channels, and playlists; retrieving detailed metadata; extracting video transcripts and captions; as well as accessing video comments, playlists, channel activities, and more. Integrations include the official YouTube Data API v3 and support for direct transcript extraction with yt-dlp (no API credentials required). It can be run in guest mode, with an API key, or via OAuth for authenticated, account-specific features. This MCP is intended for AI agent developers, tool-builders, and anyone needing robust, programmatic YouTube data access for conversational, automation, or analysis use cases.
