EdgarTools is a Python library designed for programmatically accessing and parsing SEC EDGAR filings as structured data. It enables users—including developers, analysts, researchers, and data scientists—to transform raw SEC documents into clean, typed Python objects, DataFrames, or text, supporting a wide range of financial, ownership, and event filings. Key features include support for 20+ SEC form types (such as 10-K, 13F, 8-K, and Form 4), XBRL parsing, fund and insider holdings extraction, and integration with AI/LLM stacks via an MCP server. EdgarTools is open-source, free to use, and built for both production-scale pipelines and research applications.
