Opensanctions Mcp is an MCP (Model Context Protocol) server that enables AI agents (such as Claude, Cursor, and Windsurf) to screen individuals and companies against over 320 sanctions and PEP (Politically Exposed Persons) lists from authorities like OFAC, EU, UN, and UK HMT, using the OpenSanctions API. It exposes tools for entity search, entity screening (primary compliance check), fetching detailed entity records (including relationship mapping), listing and describing available datasets, and performing comprehensive compliance investigations. The system integrates seamlessly with the OpenSanctions database, supports both hosted and self-hosted (yente) backends, and is configurable for various enterprise and developer use cases.
